Akron Marathon

Last Saturday, I ran the Akron Marathon. What a killer! I did not train properly or run smart enough for that hilly course. Akron has a huge viaduct. Five miles of the course is along a stream at the bottom of the viaduct, from mile 11 through about mile 16. Well going down was somewhat steep, so you had to work a bit to slow yourself. Going up was a different route and a different story. It was a gradual incline that seemed to never end! My last fuel cell die out coming out of the viaduct. I struggled to finish and did in a time that I'd rather not post. (4:30). This was my worst time ever.

Lesson learned - training matters, course knowledge is required, running smart (save some energy to finish) is essential!
